JAMAICA PARTNERS WITH JAMAICA DOGSLED TEAM FOR
ADVENTURES IN TRAVEL EXPO, OCTOBER 16-17
KINGSTON, JAMAICA - October 13, 2010 -
Jamaica has once again teamed up with Chukka Caribbean Adventures and the Jamaica Dogsled Team for the New York Adventures in Travel Expo, set to take place October 16-17, 2010 at the Meadowlands Exposition Center, Secaucus, New Jersey. Over the two days, patrons can learn about the various adventure opportunities available in Jamaica and meet Jamaican musher Damion Robb, who will be on hand with his dogs, to share his experiences as a member of the Jamaica Dogsled Team.
Robb has competed against some of the best mushers from the United States and Canada. Last year, he competed in the four-dog and six-dog competition at the International Federation of Sleddog Sports World Championships in Quebec, finishing 20th and 28th respectively. In 2010, Robb had his best finishes to-date when he competed in the Cannington Dog Sled Races. He won the four-dog sprint and finished second in the three-dog sprint.
Patrons attending the expo can also win a trip to Jamaica by tuning in to LITE-FM for a chance to win a vacation of a lifetime at the Jewel Dunn's River Beach Resort & Spa with roundtrip air courtesy of JetBlue Airways.
“Jamaica is excited to partner with Chukka Caribbean Adventures and the Jamaica Dogsled Team to showcase the island’s exciting array of adventure opportunities,” says John Lynch, Jamaica’s Director of Tourism. “The Adventures in Travel Expo, the longest running series of consumer travel events in the United States, is sure to provide Jamaica with tremendous visibility to this niche market, attracting increased attention as the center of attraction in the Caribbean.”
When Robb isn‘t racing with the Jamaica Dogsled Team, he works as a tour guide for Chukka Caribbean Adventures Jamaica where he shows off his team of dogs as part of Chukka’s dogsled attraction. On a visit to Chukka, visitors have the opportunity to experience mushing for themselves as they race in a sled guided by one of the team’s mushers and pulled by a team of dogs given a second chance thanks to a partnership with the Jamaica Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (JSPCA).
