Good Hope Launch sees Major Group Tour hosted for Digicel featuring Usain Bolt and Tipperary Hurling Team - the All Ireland Hurling Team Champions

January 12, 2011 (Montego Bay, Jamaica) - The launch weekend of Chukka Caribbean’s newest location Good Hope was a busy one. Friday January 7th a number of Royal Caribbean Cruise Line passengers who docked in Montego Bay chose Good Hope for their shore excursion enjoying classic Chukka tours like river tubing and new offering including horse drawn carriage rides, and gourmet lunch.

The excitement continued as Saturday the 8th saw Chukka welcome its first group tour at Good Hope. Digicel played host to the Tipperary Hurling team- Irelands All Ireland Champions who were joined by Jamaica’s own Usain Bolt. Bolt comes from Trelawney so playing at Good Hope was like coming home for him.

“It was really exciting to launch our newest property with such great success,” stated Paola Byles- Director of Cruise and International Marketing for Chukka Caribbean Adventures. “And to have Digicel choose to work with us to host the hurling team and Usain Bolt was a real compliment.” The new location and offerings include the opportunity for visitors to experience the Historic Port of Falmouth as part of their tour, to shop at the Trading House for authentic Jamaican keepsakes and to spend a day in the stunning mountains at an historic great house taking them beyond the beaches of Jamaica. With 19 tours available there is something for everyone.

The Great House was first built in 1755 by Thomas Williams and soon after purchased by a John Tharp who also acquired all the adjoining estates, eventually owning 9000 acres. The Great House first became a hotel in the early 1900's when an American banker came to Jamaica looking for antiques and happened upon Good Hope. He not only bought the antiques, he bought the place. In the 1950's Tenison purchased the property and continued in the tradition of Williams, adding more rooms and promoting horseback riding holidays. Today this breathtaking estate is now home to tours offered by Chukka Caribbean Adventures.
