OCHO RIOS, Jamaica (January 17, 2007) – The Chukka Caribbean Adventures Jamaica Dogsled Team will bring some heat to St. Paul’s Harriett Island for the 2007 St. Paul Winter Carnival -- the nation’s oldest and largest winter festivaland The Coolest Celebration on Earth™ -- January 26-February 4, 2007.

Chukka Caribbean Adventures along with Jamaican musher Devon Anderson and the team’s sponsor Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville will be participating in some of the Winter Carnival’s classic events and maybe even starting some new traditions.

On Thursday, February 1st there will be a special, invitation-only screening of the trailer for the new Palm Pictures’ documentary “Sun Dogs” featuring Anderson and the Jamaican “Sun Dogs,” many of them strays from the Jamaica Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (JSPCA).

Saturday, February 3rd kicks off as the Chukka Caribbean Adventures Jamaica Dogsled Team joins four others in the Winter Carnival’s first-ever Nestlé Purina PetCare Dogsled Rally, an exhibition race on Harriett Island. Following the race Devon will share his “mush mon” handling tips. And fans will enjoy a reprise on Sunday, Feb. 4th.

At sunset the grand Torchlight Parade will give musher Anderson and his Minnesota-based “Rasta” huskies a chance to show their stuff  in downtown St. Paul. In the spirit of Vulcanus Rex, the god of Fire, who as legend tells it was victorious over Boreas, the “King of the Winds," the parade glows with light and celebrates the coming of the warmer months – and of a hot tub party even sooner.

Jamaica arrives on Harriet Island Saturday evening for the "I want to go where it's warm -- spa paradise and Jamaican bashment in the snow.” Direct from Margaritaville in Myrtle Beach, The Necessary Band is ready to rock and there will be dance contests, refreshments, giveaways and a meet-and-greet with Devon Anderson. For a few lucky prizewinners and their friends there will be a steamy, bubbly spot in one of the VIP Hot Tubs where sizzling Jamaica meets “Ice in Paradise.”

Jamaica Dogsled Team sponsor Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville has taken the Winter Carnival theme to heart and will pay homage to “Ice in Paradise” by sponsoring a Giant Snow Sculpture – a life-size replica of Buffett’s seaplane The Hemisphere Dancer – along with palm trees, a tiki hut and real Adirondack tables and chairs.
