OCHO RIOS, Jamaica, August 28, 2006 — Chukka Caribbean Adventures has announced that beginning October 2006, three of the major cruise lines calling at Ocho Rios -- Carnival Cruise Lines, Princess Cruises and Royal Caribbean International -- will offer shore excursions to Stingray City Jamaica, Jamaica’s newest family attraction.

“Since opening in May 2006, Stingray City Jamaica is showing the same potential as its sister operations in Grand Cayman and Antigua,” says Marc Melville co-managing director of Chukka Caribbean Adventures, “and for us to have brought these cruise lines onboard with excursions so quickly solidifies the chances of Stingray City Jamaica to be a successful and long-lived venture. The Chukka name guarantees a high-quality and safe soft adventure experience and cruise passengers recognize this. Our Montego Bay Canopy Adventure and Ocho Rios River Tubing Safari were just awarded the Low Volume Tours of the Season by Princess Cruises.”

Carnival Cruise Lines and Royal Caribbean International will offer the Stingray City Jamaica Encounter, limited to four tours per day to ensure an up-close encounter for guests and individual attention from experienced guides. Animal lovers four years old and up will interact with these splendid marine creatures, learning to feed the silky rays and do the “Stingray Shuffle.” Optional, complimentary snorkeling gear will afford a clear view of their underwater glide during the Encounter experience. Babies and kids three and under can also experience being in the water with the rays – at no charge -- but they must be held by an adult. All Encounters will include round-trip transportation for passengers from the cruise ship dock in Ocho Rios to James Bond Beach in Oracabessa just 10 miles away, a complimentary beverage at the James Bond Beach Bar & Grill overlooking the scenery that inspired Ian Fleming when he wrote his legendary James Bond novels.  

Princess Cruises and Royal Caribbean International will each offer a special day-long Stingray City Jamaica Combo Package that will include, along with the Encounter, Chukka's popular River Tubing Safari, a breathtaking journey down Jamaica's famed White River, and a waterside lunch at the Parrot Bar & Restaurant in Jamaica’s beautiful Village of Flowers. The minimum age to participate in the Combo Package is six years old.
